We here at Raeküla Old School Cultural Center are a non profit organization who together with the city of Pärnu, Estonia and the United States Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia are seeking cooperating partners to take part in „America Week“ an event being held here in Pärnu on the 25th of October to the 1st of November, 2011.
We are planning on filling the week with various cultural activities, workshops of different kinds,interesting and fun activities for all, such as sporting events, art exhibits and musical concerts.
Our plan is to have every American state represented by an area of the town of Pärnu and within each area of town, a business, organization, school, etc. will be responsible for creating, performing, or presenting something unique to each particular state. For instance,a New England state might be represented by holding a Pumpkin Carving Contest or Fall Leaf craft workshop. New York could be represented by holding a Fashion Show. A roping contest or squaredance could be held to represent Texas. We also hope to entice art exhibits by kindergarteners as well as by well known artists. A preschool or kindergarten might want to partner with one of our local kindergartens and represent California or Florida by having children draw pictures of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Rollercoasters, or of their favorite „Disneyland“ or „Disney World“ activity.
We also invite the US Embassy to hold a Job Fair and for discussion of the Green Card. An introduction of US Customs Rules and Regulations for travel to the US might also make an interesting topic for a workshop. Anyone experienced in alternative therapeutic methods could hold a workshop on the use of sand therapy to help those „Dealing with life´s stresses during difficult economic times“ This could be done when representing New Mexico or Arizona.
We´d like to stress the importance of partnering in order to divide expenses.
If anyone is planning a trip to Estonia this fall or to any nearby destination, please put Pärnu and „America Week“ on your itinerary.

We have a preliminary meeting scheduled with Pärnu´s town council and the US Embassy on March 11, 2011 and therefore must ask that we hear back from interested parties before that time.
